The immersive domain is shaping a new world of opportunities for storytellers, journalists, and artists.
The horizon is so wide and deep we have the impression of just be scratching the surface of the potential in communication. That’s why we must take care of all the challenges that come along with this: privacy, security, truth, intellectual property, and more. Join us on this exciting journey into story-living!

XRSI PRIVACY FRAMEWORK DEEP DIVE WITH KENT BYE
When the internet became part of everyday life in the late 90s, many of us thought that the digital space would enable a more democratic, equal, and free society. Almost 30 years later, we are still trying to figure out how to govern this space to ensure we can realize that vision.
During XR Safety Awareness Week and on Human, as we marvel at the innovation and creative uses of XR, XRSI advisers and Voices of VR Podcast host, Kent Bye will discuss the opportunity to move forward with the eyes open to the risks, and with the intention of building a collaborative and participatory regulatory framework for the technology that can help mitigate those risks and serve humankind. Some of this work has already begun, through projects like the XRSI Privacy Framework, developed with privacy in mind. Version 1.0 of the framework is a good outline, but there is a great deal of work to do to ensure that XR will enable digital rights instead of obstructing them. XRSI is already working on the XRSI Privacy Framework Version 1.1 to proactively address these challenges while keeping pace with other emerging technologies that impact the XR domain.
At this panel co-hosted by XRSI and Voices of VR Podcast , Kent Bye will dive into the specifics of the framework as well as what to expect next.

STORIES WORTH LIVING
CREATING IMMERSIVE NARRATIVES
Emerging technologies have the power to reshape the way we tell stories, create art, or preserve what we have. The immersive domain is expanding, and XR is not a “shiny new toy” anymore, it’s a solid (extended) reality. The exciting news? We still don’t even know the limits of the new worlds that we can create, in journalism, storytelling, or art.Artists and media communities are moving fast and exploring new, uncharted territories. On the Media&Art day of the XR Safety Awareness Week, Ready Hacker One is celebrating the nth dimensions: what are the perspectives for information, art, and history?

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY CHALLENGES FOR EMERGING MEDIA AND ART
Since this panel targets the average consumer, not legal experts, we will begin with a brief discussion about the definition of IP (Intellectual Property) as well as some very general guidelines for usage of IP by another person. Panelists will have the opportunity to address the concept of IP in immersive reality. What steps can we take now to protect creations, work, etc.? What about permission to use our avatars, our voices, etc. in VR? Does this vary in public immersive space versus private space? Perhaps most importantly, why should we care about all of this?
Time: Thursday, Dec 10th at 3:00pm PST
